StarNewsstand is your go-to platform to subscribe to your favourite content products from Star Media Group. With StarNewsstand, you’ll be able to check out our bookstore and the latest The Star newspaper, The Star Bundle, The Star ePaper, The Star Digital Access, Kuntum and dimsum entertainment promos, as well as renew or purchase subscriptions.

With your StarNewsstand Account, you will be able to:
- Manage your account details:
- Update your personal particulars such as contact details.
- View subscription(s) status, subscription expiry date(s) and order transaction history.
- Manage The Star ePaper’s email(s).
- Get to know the latest on-going promotions.
- Purchase new products and renew existing subscription(s).
You may access StarNewsstand on most of the common web browsers. We recommend to view StarNewsstand on Google Chrome browser.
Your StarNewsstand Account
You can sign up for a StarNewsstand account at any time. Simply click on the “Sign Up” button and follow the instructions given. You will have the option to sign up using your email address, or via social platform logins such as your Google or Facebook account.
If you are an existing subscriber of The Star newspaper, The Star ePaper, Kuntum, or a registered StarNewsstand user, you can log in by simply clicking on the “Log In” button. You can key in the email and password you used to register for the StarNewsstand account.
You will also have the option to log in via social logins, which are your Google or Facebook accounts if you have used this to sign up.
- Click “Sign Up” and select either Facebook or Google.
- Key in your Facebook/Google details (you’ll only have to do this once).
- Key in your personal information.
- Click “Submit”. You can now log in to StarNewsstand with your Facebook or Google account.
No, MyStar account is different from the Newsstand account. MyStar account is for The Star Online website. For any queries on your MyStar account, please click here.
Click the “Forgot Your Password?” button. A link will be sent to your email address for you to change your password. The link will expire in one (1) hour from the time it was sent.

- Log in to your StarNewsstand account.
- Go to “My Account”.
- Go to “Delivery Address”.
- In the “Edit Delivery Address” panel, choose your “Order Listing” that you want to change the delivery address of.
- Key in your new address in the “New Address” column.
- Please wait for the approval status in the “Delivery Address List” panel. Please allow for at least seven (7) working days for us to source for a new vendor.
- The delivery shall commence on the 1st of the following month depending on the date that the request is made.

Purchasing or Renewing Subscriptions
Yes, you would need to register or login to a StarNewsstand account to purchase subscriptions. To find out how to register or log in, please click here to refer to queries on About StarNewsstand.
- Log in or register for a StarNewsstand account. (If you have access to The Star ePaper, your login details for the StarNewsstand is the same as your login details for The Star ePaper).
- Click on the “Home” button.
- Select the product and the subscription plan that works best for you and click “Add to Cart”.
- Once you have finished shopping, click on the cart icon or the “My Cart” button to view items in your cart. You will also have the option for auto-renewal of your subscription(s). Please note that auto-renewal option is not available for 1 year subscription plans.
- Review and confirm the items in your cart. If you are happy with your purchases, you may proceed to check out.
- Please key in your personal particulars, billing and shipping information, and confirm your shipping method.
- You may review your order before confirming payment. If you are happy with your purchases, you may proceed to payment.
- You will be redirected to iPay88 for your online payment.
- 1. Select your payment method (please refer to payment options) and fill up the required fields. Once the payment transaction is complete, you’ll be redirected back to the StarNewsstand with a “Payment Successful” indication.
A confirmation email will be sent to you from newsstand@thestar.my within one (1) hour after the registration process is successful. Please check both your Inbox and Spam folders. If you haven’t received your confirmation email after one (1) hour, please contact our Customer Service Hotline at 1300 88 7827 or email us at customerservice@thestar.com.my.
- Log in to your StarNewsstand account.
- Go to “My Account” and click “My Subscriptions”.
- If upon successful payment, your transaction status is still stated as “Pending” after 3 working days, please contact our Customer Care Hotline at 1300-88-7827 or send us an email at customerservice@thestar.com.my.
- Log in to your StarNewsstand account and go to “My Account.
- Click on my “My Subscriptions” and click “Renew” for the subscription(s) eligible for renewal.
- Confirm your renewal price for your subscription.
- If you’re happy with your subscription renewal, you may proceed to payment. Please do take note that your delivery address will be the same as the delivery address for the subscription(s) that you renewed.
- You may check on your subscription status and manage your The Star ePaper access after one (1) working day
You may also see packages where you have opted for auto-renewal under “Recurring Subscriptions”.
There is a renewal price when you renew your existing subscriptions within a stipulated time frame. This is only applicable for the 1-year subscription plan to The Star Newspaper and The Star Bundle packages. This is subject to Star Media Group’s discretion. For more information, kindly refer to our Terms and Conditions.
“It is recommended to renew your subscriptions (two) 2 weeks before expiration to avoid disruption to the newspaper delivery and access to The Star ePaper. You will also receive a notification email when your subscription is due for renewal.
You are able to renew your subscription within a period of three (3) months before and after the expiry date of your last subscription via StarNewsstand. For example, if your subscription expiry date is on the 30th June, you are able to renew your subscription between 1st April and 30th September.
For first time purchase, you may opt-in for auto-renewal when you have selected the package that you would like to purchase.
You may only opt-in for auto-renewal when you purchase a subscription or renew existing subscription(s) via StarNewsstand. When you are purchasing a subscription(s), you will be able to opt-in for auto-renewal when you view your shopping cart.
You will not be able to opt-in for auto-renewal in the middle of your subscription(s).
You may also see packages where you have opted for auto-renewal under “Recurring Subscriptions” in your Account Dashboard.
If you would like to opt-out or deactivate/disable the auto-renewal of your subscription(s):
- Log in to your StarNewsstand account.
- Go to your “My Account” page and click “Recurring Subscriptions".
- In the table under “Action”, click “Disable auto-renewal".
If you have renewed your subscription before the expiration date, the auto-renewal of your subscription(s) will be reset. This means that you would need to opt-in for auto-renewal when you renew your subscription(s) during the next renewal.
No, unfortunately we will not be able to offer a refund once you have subscribed. However, if you have subscribed to the wrong package, please call our Customer Care Hotline at 1300-88-7827 or send us an email at customerservice@thestar.com.my. Refunds are subject to the Company’s discretion.
Subscription Status
To check on your order status for your subscription(s):
- Log in to your StarNewsstand account.
- Go to your “My Orders”. You will be able view the status of your subscription order(s).
This means that your payment process was not fully completed. Please call our Customer Care Hotline at 1300-88-7827 or send us an email at customerservice@thestar.com.my.
This means that you had cancelled your order during the payment process and the subscription(s) were not successfully processed.
We would need 10 working days to source for a vendor before commencing your subscription. The Commencement Date and Expiry Date will be reflected once we have secured a vendor.
Subscription commencement will be on the 1st of every month.The Star ePaper can be accessed on the same day upon receiving an email notification of commencement of subscription.
After your payment is successful, your tax invoice will be automatically emailed to you. If you have missed the email, you can get it from your StarNewsstand account. Please follow these steps:
- Log in to your StarNewsstand account.
- Click on “My Order” and “View Order”.
Payment Options
You may make payment for your subscription through the following methods:
a) Online payment via:
- Debit/Credit Card (Visa or MasterCard). You can opt for auto-renewal of your subscriptions to ease your subscription renewal process.
- e-Banking (Affin Bank, Alliance Bank, Ambank, Bank Islam, Bank Muamalat, Bank Rakyat, BSN, CIMB Clicks, Hong Leong Bank, HSBC, KFH, Maybank 2E, Maybank 2U, OCBC Bank, Public Bank, RHB Bank, Standard Chartered, UOB Bank, etc).
- 12-month installments plan exclusively for selected banks (only available for credit card payments amounting to RM300 and above, in a single receipt).
- e-Wallets (Boost, GrabPay, QR Pay, MCa$h and Touch’nGo)
- Google Pay
- JomPay (only for renewals)
For online payments, you will be redirected to iPay88 payment gateway. Please be advised that you will receive notifications from Mobile88.com for your transactions.

b) Cash payment
Cash payment is only applicable at Star Media Group headquarters.

Yes. Inform your vendor that you wish to subscribe to The Star newspaper and they will share you with our available packages and subscription form. Alternatively, you can also subscribe via the StarNewsstand.
The Star Newspaper Subscription
Please allow at least ten (10) working days for processing and commencement of your The Star newspaper upon successful subscription. You will receive a subscription commencement notification email stating your subscription and commencement dates. Your newspaper delivery will commence on the 1st of the following month, depending on the date your subscription order is successfully completed.
For example:
If your subscription order is received before/on 25th June, your The Star newspaper subscription commencement date will be 1st July.
If your subscription is received after 25th June, your The Star newspaper subscription commencement date will be 1st August.
Fulfilment is subject to availability of newspaper vendors.
Please continue to pay your newspaper vendor by cash for the duration that you are not subscribed to ensure uninterrupted newspaper delivery, as subscription will commence on the 1st of the following month. A notification will be sent to you via letter and email.

It is recommended to renew your subscription two (2) weeks before expiry to avoid disruption to the newspaper delivery. You will also receive a notification email when your subscription is due for renewal.

Yes, you may. When you switch packages, you will need to pay the full price of the new package that you would like to subscribe to. However, the new subscription package will commence upon the expiry of your current package.
Please allow at least seven (7) working days from the receipt date of your renewal application before your subscription resumes.
Newspaper Delivery, Vendor & Delivery Note(s)
We recommend that you inform us at least seven (7) working days in advance if you would like to change your delivery address. You can also update your delivery address through your StarNewsstand account.
Change of delivery address is subject to approval. We will attempt to find a new vendor for your new area. Please note that the effective date can only be on the 1st of the following month. Kindly allow seven (7) working days upon receiving your application to process the change of delivery address before the 1st of the effective month. If the seven (7) days overlap to the following month, then the change of newspaper delivery shall take place in the month after.
For example:
If your request for change of delivery address is received before/on 20th June, your Star newspaper delivery will commence to the new delivery address effective 1st July.
If your request for change of delivery address is received after 20th June, your Star newspaper delivery will commence to the new delivery address effective 1st August.

A delivery note is a payment to the newspaper vendor at the end of every month in exchange for newspapers. It serves as a proof of delivery as well as a kind of "payment chit" for your newspaper vendor.
There are two types of delivery notes:
- Credit Note (CN): The CN will be issued to newspaper vendors by Star Media Group. The vendor will receive a CN on the payment(s) credited to the vendor’s account at the end of each month. An acknowledgment letter will be emailed to you upon the commencement of your subscription. Subscribers will need to print the second page (“Vendor’s Copy”) of the acknowledgement letter to be given to their delivery vendor.
- Payment vouchers (PV): We are no longer issuing PV for new subscriptions. However, subscribers who still have their PV can pay their delivery vendors with the PV until the expiration of their current subscription(s).
The delivery note(s) will be sent to you within one (1) month after your subscription commences.

An administration fee of RM50 will be charged for replacement of delivery note(s).

Cancellation & Refund
In the case of undelivered newspapers by your respective newspaper vendor, you would need to confirm with your vendor the number of day(s) of non-delivery. Your newspaper vendor will liaise with you on an immediate refund at the end of the month.

You can access The Star ePaper through:

Visit newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper. and sign in with your username and password.
Mobile (iOS, Android, Huawei)
Download ‘The Star ePaper’ app from your app store and authorise your device in the
app with your username and password.
Yes. You can have three (3) simultaneous access to The Star ePaper on either your mobile devices or desktop login at epaper.thestar.com.my.
This means that you have exceeded the number of allowed devices for simultaneous access to The Star ePaper app. You will automatically be deauthorised to access The Star ePaper on the additional device in this case.
If you have switched devices, you would need to reinstall The Star ePaper app on your new device (if you have not yet installed The Star ePaper app). You can download The Star ePaper app from the app store and authorise your new device in The Star ePaper app with your username and password.
Yes, your device must be connected to the internet if you are browsing The Star ePaper.
If you’re reading The Star ePaper from an app, internet connection is only required to download issues of The Star ePaper, use of the audio reader feature and article sharing.
You can still access issues of The Star ePaper that you have downloaded in “My Library” in the app even if you are not connected to the internet.
The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. As a guide, a high speed broadband with 10Mbps within one (1) minute to completely download The Star ePaper.
Yes. You can access between 7 days and 60 days of past issues depending on your subscription.
Your The Star ePaper password is the same as your StarNewsstand password. To reset your password, please click here.
Yes, as long as you have an active internet data connection, you can access The Star ePaper from anywhere in the world. If you are using PressReader for The Star ePaper, you may not be able to access The Star ePaper from China, North Korea and Zimbabwe.

You will receive an email confirmation on your change in email address.

The Star ePaper Technical Issues
No, users will not be able to take screenshots of content of The Star ePaper.
The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. If your download is incomplete or terminated, tap on the same issue of the newspaper to resume download. If the download does not resume, please delete the issue and download it once more.
This means that you have exceeded the number of allowed devices for simultaneous access to The Star ePaper app. You will automatically be deauthorised to access The Star ePaper on the additional device in this case.

Newspaper Delivery, Vendor & Delivery Note(s)

A delivery note is a payment to the newspaper vendor at the end of every month in exchange for newspapers. It serves as a proof of delivery as well as a kind of "payment chit" for your newspaper vendor.
There are two types of delivery notes:
- Credit Note (CN): The CN will be issued to newspaper vendors by Star Media Group. The vendor will receive a CN on the payment(s) credited to the vendor’s account at the end of each month. An acknowledgment letter will be emailed to you upon the commencement of your subscription. Subscribers will need to print the second page (“Vendor’s Copy”) of the acknowledgement letter to be given to their delivery vendor.
- Payment vouchers (PV): We are no longer issuing PV for new subscriptions. However, subscribers who still have their PV can pay their delivery vendors with the PV until the expiration of their current subscription(s).
The delivery note(s) will be sent to you within one (1) month after your subscription commences.

No. Please pay the newspaper delivery fees directly to your newspaper vendor. The delivery fees range from RM2 – RM15 / month, within Peninsular Malaysia only. This is also subject to your delivery address.
Cancellation & Refund
In the case of undelivered newspapers by your respective newspaper vendor, you would need to confirm with your vendor the number of day(s) of non-delivery. Your newspaper vendor will liaise with you on an immediate refund at the end of the month.

No. There will be no refund for early termination or cancellation.
Yes, you may. When you switch packages, you will need to pay the full price of the new package that you would like to subscribe to. However, the new subscription package will commence upon the expiry of your current package.

How to Sign-up and Make Payment
Kindly refer to the eDM/leaflet/advertisements/newspaper agents for more information on the packages. The subscription method is slightly different.

- Newsstand on the special link provided that takes approximately 3 working days to process.
- Subscribe manually via your Newspaper Agent that takes approximately 7 working days to process.
- Roadshow that takes approximately 7 working days to process.

Manual subscription
For subscriptions where non-online payment is made (i.e. by cash or cheque), an email with your login details will be sent to you within 3 working days after payment is received. Please check both your Inbox and Spam folders.

Login to your Newsstand account and go to the My Account> My Transaction page. You will be able to check if you have set auto-renewal.
After your payment is successful, the tax invoice will be automatically emailed to you. If you have missed the email, you can get it from your Newsstand account. Please follow these steps:

Renewal

If your subscription was done via newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, a default auto-renew function applies to selected package only. Your credit card will be billed for the agreed amount at the beginning of your subscription and at each time of expiry. If your package has no auto renewal, your are required to select package and purchase if you wish to renew.
Online subscription via Newsstand
If your subscription was done via Newsstand, log in here and click on My Account>My Subscriptions. Select your product due for renewal, then click the renew button.
Manual subscription
To renew your subscription manually, please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827. An administrative fee of RM20 applies for manual renewal. It is highly recommended that you to renew your subscription online.

Mobile (iOS & Android)
Download ‘The Star ePaper’ app from your app store and authorise your device in the app with your username and password.
Yes. You can have simultaneous access to 2 mobile devices and 1 web login at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper.
First, de-authorise your old device. Log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, and click on My Account>Press Reader to de-authorise your old device. Then, download The Star ePaper app to your new device and authorise it using your username and password.
Your device must be connected to the internet if you are browsing the ePaper via web browser.
If you’re reading your ePaper from your app, internet connection is only required during the downloading of issues, using audio reader and sharing article. Once download is complete, you can read the ePaper offline.
The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. As a guide, a high speed broadband with 5Mbps will take less than 5 minutes to completely download the ePaper.
Yes. You can access between 7 and 60 past issues, depending on your subscription package.
You can reset your password at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper. Instructions will be sent to your registered email address to reset your password upon submitting the required information.
As long as you have an active data connection, you can access your ePaper from anywhere in the world except China,North Korea and Zimbabwe.
Please note that the restrictions are due to the respective governments’ policies and we do not have any control on accessibility. You may be able to access via ePaper or app depending on the current policies. The Star is not liable for any access restrictions due to the aforementioned.
Change of Account Details
Log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, and click on My Services>My Account to change your password.
If your subscription was done via newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, log in and click on My Account>General to change your email address.
If your subscription was done via thestar.com.my/Newsstand, log in and click on My Account>My Subscriptions to change your email address.
ePaper Technical Issues
The download duration will depend on your broadband connection speed. If your download is incomplete or terminated, tap on the same issue of the newspaper to resume download. If the download does not resume, please delete the issue and re-download it.
De-authorise your unused device. Log in to your account at newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, and go to My Account>Press Reader, to de-authorise your unused device. Then, authorise your account with your preferred device.
If you did not receive the email, please check your Spam folder just in case the confirmation email is redirected.
To prevent the email from going into your Spam folder, please add the sender into your contacts.
Cancellation and Refund
If you subscribe through Newsstand, please sign in>My Account>My Transaction. You will be able to opt out.
If you subscribe through newsstand.thestar.com.my/epaper, please contact Customer Service at 1300 88 7827 at least five working days before your subscription’s expiry date to cancel the auto-renewing function.

Deleting ePaper Account
By deleting your account:
- Your subscription to The Star ePaper will be terminated.

Kuntum
- To subscribe to Kuntum:
- Select the ‘PRODUCTS’ tab on the menu bar of this Newsstand site
- On the PRODUCTS page, select ‘Kuntum’
- On the Kuntum page, select ‘One-year subscription’. Select the ‘auto-renewal’ option if you wish to have a recurring subscription, and proceed to BUY.
- Fill in your details to create your own Newsstand account.
- Pay via Credit Card or online transfer (Online transfer is not applicable for auto-renewal).
- Once you have completed the registration and payment process, a confirmation email shall be sent to you and that’s it! Your first copy of KUNTUM should arrive within 45 days.

All about Auto-Renewal
- Auto-renewal is a service provided by Newsstand. All subscribers who subscribe via Newsstand can opt for this service.When you opt-in for auto-renewal, your subscription will automatically renew when it expires.
- This will save you the time and effort of renewing every time before your subscription expires.Please be informed that for subscriptions expiring between 16th September 2015 and 30th November 2015, auto-renewal is not applicable.
- Kindly renew as usual at Newsstand and check auto-renewal during checkout. Thereafter your subscription will be automatically renewed without further effort on your part.
- All the Bundle packages except for the Star-Sin Chew bundle, the ePaper standalone packages and magazines can be set to auto renew. Please click here for the Bundle package, here for the ePaper standalone package and here for the magazines.
- If you are an existing subscriber and would like to renew, please login to Newsstand to check for the renewal package price. If you are unable to remember your password, click on forgot password and you will be guided on how to reset your password.
- No. Auto-renewal depends on a valid credit or debit card. For auto-renewal a Mastercard or Visa is necessary.
- If you are a new subscriber or you are renewing, you can opt-in during payment just before checkout. Tick the box marked ‘Auto Renewal’.
- If your subscription is still active, you can login to your account at Newsstand and opt-in for auto-renewal at My Accoun t page.
- To opt-out, make sure that during payment the ‘Auto Renewal’ box is empty. For existing subscriber, please follow the step mentioned above and ensure the auto-renewal box is not ticked.
- Yes! The auto-renewal service is free of charge.
- When you opt-in for the first time, you will be requested to complete a one-time verification process that includes filling out your credit card details. You will receive a notification that iPay has charged you RM1. Don’t worry, this is only to verify that your card is valid. Your RM1 will be refunded.
- Once you have completed binding your card, please proceed to renew. You can then check on auto-renewal and your subscription will automatically renew itself as long as your card is active and valid.
- No. It is a one-time process. You can opt-out and opt-in as per your needs. However, if you change your credit card, you will have to update your credit card details and go through the verification process again.
- Active subscription: Yes. You may do so at any time via your Newsstand account.
- Expired subscription: It is advisable to renew at Newsstand and opt-in before checking out for payment.
- Yes. After your subscription has been processed, you will receive an acknowledgement letter from us with your Newsstand login. You can login to your account and opt for auto-renewal.
No. You can only subscribe or renew through your vendor. Opt-in can only be done online.
- For all subscriptions except for 1-month ePaper standalone, your card will be charged 2 weeks before the subscription expires.
- For 1-month ePaper standalone, your card will be charged 4 days before the subscription expires.
- 1-year subscription: 2 months (first time) and 1 month (second time) before expiry

For example, an eCommerce promo code will required you to register an account in order to use the discount from your purchase and for F&B outlet, you only required to make reservation.
Each deal will have a redemption validity period from the date you redeem the eVoucher. The date will be stated under the eVoucher T&C and make sure to utilize the eVoucher before it’s expired.
